Meet the Author

I have never murdered anyone, nor have I ever solved a real-life crime. However, I have actually taught at a couple of international schools in Asia, so my stories about Hunter and Higashi, a crime-solving duo who attend a British school in Japan, are not completely pulled out of thin air.

I am originally from the North of England, but now live in Stellenbosch, a lovely historical town in South Africa. As well as teaching at several schools around the world, I have travelled extensively throughout Asia, especially China and Japan. If any of the teachers I have worked with or students I have taught believe some of my books’ characters are based on them, then it’s probably because they are.

The Hunter and Higashi series represents an attempt to combine my experiences teaching abroad with a love of thrillers and mysteries. I am also seriously passionate about writing, literature in general, travelling, walking with my wife and my dog in the beautiful mountains near our home, and I have been practicing Zen meditation for many years.

Communicating directly with readers is a serious perk of being a writer, so please feel free to send me a message via the contact page.

A CURSE IN KYOTO

THE PAST IS CLOSING IN – AND IT WANTS BLOOD.
In a school haunted by history and silence, two unlikely allies must uncover the truth behind a disappearance tied to an ancient curse.

Set in Kyoto’s shadowed alleyways and echoing halls, A Curse in Kyoto blends mystery, myth, and psychological suspense in the vein of The Fever and The Last House Guest.

If you enjoy haunting mysteries where setting is a character and the truth is never simple, this one’s for you.
